A Bail Bondsman and Bounty Hunter Are Different, Here’s Why
A bail bondsman and a bounty hunter are kind of similar, but still very different. A bail bondsman is a good person to have around should you be arrested and formally charged with a crime. A bounty hunter however, you don’t want to come knocking on your door. If you gain freedom using a bail bondsman and decide to skip out on court – they send a bounty hunter your way.
While a bail bondsman and a bounty hunter may work with each other side by side within the industry, they are vastly different occupation wise. A bail bondsman will work with a bounty hunter in the event of someone skipping out on court. This means if you hired a bail bondsman to get you out of jail while promising to pay the agreed upon amount, and you don’t pay or you don’t show up to court, the bondsman will alert a bounty hunter to come and find you. A bail bondsman is on the law side of things, and bounty hunters enforce the order side; bail bondsmen are subject to federal rules and regulations to ensure the clients bond with the court, and bounty hunters are subject to state laws regarding civil and criminal recovery of a client if they decide to not show up to court.
